2017 Highlights

22/12/2017

Established as an international non-profit association in March 2013, Eri-Platform became operational in 2015.

Increasing support, an expanding network and growing collaboration with academia and international civil society have enhanced the global outreach of our activities within a year.

2017 availed Eri-Platform significant opportunities to facilitate dialogue designed to promote a shared appreciation of the concepts of rule of law, democratic principles, and human rights, with particular focus on the Eritrean setting.

We would like to share some of the year's highlights with you...

Our activities focused mainly on facilitating inclusive dialogue within and among the global Eritrean Diaspora communities to help bridge divides and foster a common understanding towards collaborative effort based on a  shared vision of the future of Eritrea:  freedom, justice, democracy and prosperity for all.

Our work has taken us to over 25 locations in 14 countries to engage with communities, organisations and groups via a range of seminars, workshops and interviews.

The overarching objective is to stimulate civil discussion on important national, regional and international issues affecting Eritrea and the Horn of Africa; promote constructive national conversation grounded on factual knowledge of the salient features of modern Eritrean history; and nurture a common understanding of the current situation and a shared vision of the future.
In line with our mission to help bridge divides, mediate conflict, and cultivate a shared vision in the pursuit of a common future, Eri-Platform facilitated the Conference on Transformative Collaboration (CTC), that gathered over 40 representatives of political organisations and civil associations as well as activist individuals. The CTC concluded with a Memorandum of Understanding.

Conference outcomes:
Setting the Scene:   Tigrinya ትግርኛArabic, and English
Memorandum of Understanding: Tigrinya ትግርኛ, and English

We seek to also raise international and regional awareness of the present political, economic, social, and human rights situation in Eritrea, publishing regularly on topics of concern affecting the country and Diaspora.

ERITREA AT A CROSSROADS
Eritrea at a Crossroads: A Narrative of Triumph, Betrayal and Hope traces the historical evolution of Eritrea from pre-colonial times to post independence. It attempts to locate Eritrea in its historical and geopolitical context, contributing to a better grasp of the ‘root causes and key drivers’ of the status quo and the challenges facing democratic State reconstitution. Furthermore, it aspires to provide the basis for an objective understanding of the current state of affairs and point the way forward.
