Alemseged Tesfai, a lawyer by training turned historian by praxis, a veteran freedom fighter and a prolific writer, has authored seminal books on the modern history of Eritrea and the Eritrean people’s resilient and perseverant political and military struggle for freedom and justice. In addition to his remarkable literary and educational writings during the revolutionary war, Alemseged’s post-independence works include፦

ኣይንፈላለ፡ ኤርትራ 1941-1950. (Hdri Publishers, Asmera, 2001).

ፈደረሽን ኤርትራ ምስ ኢትዮጵያ፡ ካብ ማቲየንሶ ክሳብ ተድላ፡ 1951-1955. (Hdri Publishers, Asmera, June 2005).

ኤርትራ፡ ካብ ፈደረሽን ናብ ጐበጣን ሰውራን፡ 1956-1962 (Hdri Publishers, Asmera, 2016).

An African People’s Quest for Freedom and Justice, essentially a concise encapsulation of the three books written in Tigrinya, provides a superb narration of the salient facts, features and events that defined the evolution of the history of Eritrea during the crucial period of the two decades preceding the launch of the armed struggle for national liberation and laid the basis for the materialisation of the Eritrean people’s indomitable agency that won independence through total military victory against overwhelming odds.

At a time when Ethiopia’s Oromuma Prosperity Gospel regime and its minions and hirelings are seized by a collective hysteria of outright lies, fabrications and distortions of the history Eritrea and the Eritrean people to justify their insatiable expansionist ambitions over Eritrea or parts thereof, An African People’s Quest for Freedom and Justice comes as a timely must-read for everyone interested in learning the truth about the modern history of Eritrea and the Eritrean people.

Eri-Platform warmly congratulates Alemseged Tesfai for his seminal work, highly commends An African People’s Quest for Freedom and Justice and strongly recommends its reading.
